Another universal question: "What was the most interesting experience you had while traveling?" Traveling is an inexhaustible source of stories and impressions. People are happy to share their adventures, and you can also learn a lot about different cultures and traditions.

The third topic, which is always relevant, is food. "What is your favorite cuisine?" A question about food preferences allows you to not only get your interlocutor talking, but also, perhaps, find common ground if your tastes coincide. This can even lead to a discussion of favorite dishes and recipes.
